Client: Welsh Development Agency: Cardiff County Council: Railtrack (now SRA) and Freightliner
This consortium of interests agreed to develop a new rail freight terminal at Wentloog Cardiff with connections off the Paddington main line.
The project cost of £12.5 million was funded by this consortium with assistance from the European Regional Development Fund Llewellyn Lewis Sennik was appointed to project manage the construction procurement inputs of the WDA, Cardiff and Freightliner whilst acting as coordinator with Railtrack. This proportion of the project cost was £8.35 million.
The project was procured by two-stage tendering and partnering using the NEC Form of Contract - Target Cost Option D
LLS was also commissioned to design the two main buildings on the terminal - the terminal offices and workshops.
